About Shiatsu Training About The Heart of England Shiatsu School The Heart of England Shiatsu School offers the full 3-year training programme to professional level, as well as postgraduate studies and teacher training. The school has premises in Stratford-upon-Avon town centre close to rail and motorway links. The centre is at an exceptionally attractive venue with a beautiful garden and is a sanctuary for everyone who visits. The School's two main teachers have a direct lineage with Japanese Masters and have over 40 years professional experience between them. The focus on teaching Shiatsu skills The focus on teaching shiatsu skills is practical at all levels to ensure that your work meets the Shiatsu Society's standards. Tutorial support is available to support you throughout your training. How to qualify as a Shiatsu Practitioner To qualify as a shiatsu practitioner eligible for recognition by the Shiatsu Society you will need at least 500 classroom hours taught by three different teachers. This course is run to Shiatsu Society requirements and incorporates their baseline curriculum. The course is compatible with other schools in the Midlands and elsewhere in Britain should you need to relocate. Shiatsu Society assessors supervise your final exams. To be eligible you need to have completed the required number of treatments, all the assignments and clinic practices. Experience necessary to study Shiatsu As shiatsu is practised on a futon, it is essential that you are reasonably flexible and able to work on the floor. During your training you are expected to carry out 300 recorded treatments showing your development. On a weekly basis, this means that you are doing two treatments, exercising and keeping a diary recording how knowledge of oriental principles and diagnosis has increased your understanding of life and yourself. Assessment and Evaluation Assessment and evaluation are seen as the building blocks of your relationships with your Teachers and you are required to keep your assessment records up-to-date. If you do not keep up to date with your assessments you may incur additional expenses. A mature, open and honest approach is essential to good practice and relationships with clients. Assessment is ongoing throughout the whole course with some written projects and examinations. Group Support Each group of students is encouraged to support each other in their training and to provide a network for all students to practise. Course numbers are limited and there are assistant teachers on each course to help students to learn and to look after their welfare. We also have a learning support unit. Students are encouraged to have fun and to develop in a way that furthers safe practice. The only School in the Midlands to have a direct lineage with Japanese teachers. |
