Suzi has now been practising shiatsu for over 25 years. She has trained in other bodywork therapies and has found shiatsu to be the most effective in relieving pain and lifting the spirits.

Initially there is a detailed consultation which explores the background to the person's current condition. This includes your medical history and many aspects of your lifestyle. Bodywork sessions are tailored to individual needs and the time spent in counselling/ bodywork will vary in each hour long session. Magnets, moxibustion, herbs or oils may be used if necessary.

Shiatsu has recently been scientifically proven to be effective treatment for sports injuries, stress, joint mobility, back and neck problems.

"My shoulder feels better than is has for years, it is so free and loose. Oooooooooh!" Bonnie Lansborough.

"My neck is 10 times better than when I went to theosteopath. After treatment it used to revert after a couple of days, shiatsu lasts much longer." Alex Green, School Teacher, Warwick

"After my first session, I completely forgot about the walking stick I had used since the accident" Helen Vicar's Wife

INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR TREATMENT
After Shiatsu you will probably feel invigorated and yet relaxed. Sometimes the first benefits to occur do not improve the main complaint, but rather overall health. For example, the body's eliminative functions may have to be improved before specific pain can be relieved. The duration and frequency of sessions will vary from person to person, as will the total number of sessions. Most people have two opposing tendencies; one, the wish to regain health and freedom, the other to remain attached to old behaviour patterns which reinforce sickness.

While clients generally experience increased wellbeing, there may be temporary healing reactions as toxins and negative emotions are released; these may take the form of a headache or flu-like symptoms for 24 hours. In such cases contact your therapist so that they can reassure you.

Shiatsu affects all levels of our being, the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. Treatment is attuned to each individual. The Practitioner may give advice on diet, herbs, exercise, and lifestyle, encouraging self-understanding and greater independence in health matters.

In order to gain the most benefit from Shiatsu treatment, here are some simple guidelines to follow:

- It is best not to eat heavy meals or drink alcohol on the day of the treatment, have a light meal at least one hour before your session.
- Do not take a long hot bath on the day of the treatment.
- For the treatment please wear loose clothing, preferably cotton, such as a track or jogging suit. You will remain fully clothed during the session, which takes place on a padded mat or futon at floor level.
- If applicable have details of current medical diagnosis and any medication you may be taking.
