SUZI CAUNCE Profile Suzi began yoga and shiatsu over 25 years ago during her time working in the demanding world of advertising. Initially doing lunchtime yoga with nationally renowned teacher Maxine Tobias. Studying at the Kushi Institute in London with Wataru Ohashi, Shizuko Yamamoto and the Oki Yoga Federation she also studied Japanese Yoga. These studies were followed up in the USA where she studied with Shizuto Masunaga and trained to be a yoga teacher with Mr. Bo-In Lee in Boston. On returning from studying in America, she was invited to practise and teach [both yoga and shiatsu] at the East West Centre and to be an original member of the Shiatsu Society. She has been involved in shiatsu practitioner training since 1983 .She has taught shiatsu throughout Britain, Europe and worked in South Africa. In her 50s Suzi found that she and others had different needs from Yoga and completed training in Dru Yoga. Her approach to yoga is to work with what is there each day and to help others listen to their bodies. Self practise for a shiatsu practitioner means that you have to deal with tension - back, shoulder or neck pain as well as anything that may be happening before you can work. If you are mobile and slightly stiff then these classes are ideal for you, you are not expected to be greatly flexible to take part. |
