It is akin to acupuncture, but the hands, elbows, knees or feet are used instead of needles to activate changes in the meridian system of life energy within the body. Shiatsu is practised on a futon (mat) on the floor with the receiver fully clothed. Healing Healing means to make whole or healthy. All three words have the same origin in the English language.
